Musical Life & Projects
Music has been central to my life and career from the beginning.
As a vocalist, I've performed as a soloist in over a dozen languages on international stages across classical, musical theatre, rock, and pop genres. My musical practice extends to voice teaching, choral conducting, and composition, with each dimension informing the others. These experiences shape my artistic identity and bring depth to all facets of my professional life. Making music remains essential to my creative expression and personal wellbeing.

Composer
My work as a composer blossomed during my eight years with the Tacoma Refugee Choir, where I created and collaborated on more than 25 works that gave voice to powerful refugee stories. These compositions resonated beyond our community, with performances broadcast on PBS, orchestrations by symphony orchestras and the US Air Force Band, and featured presentations at the national ACDA conference.

I'm now publishing my compositions and developing new works. My compositional approach is particularly well-suited for emerging choirs and singers discovering their voices—creating music that balances technical accessibility with emotional depth. Drawing from diverse influences including film scores, contemporary music, and classical traditions, my work has been noted for singable melodies, rhythmic vitality, rich harmonic textures, and meaningful text settings that resonate with both performers and audiences.
I'm currently accepting commissions
for 2025, with the goal of taking on
two more projects this year.
I'd love to collaborate on creating something meaningful together.

Conductor
With over 20 years of experience leading diverse ensembles, my conducting approach centers on creating inclusive musical environments where singers of all backgrounds can thrive. I use a range of modalities including teaching in the aural tradition—a methodology that has enabled me to work effectively with musicians across cultural backgrounds, experience levels, and musical literacy.
As a conductor, I've led performances with symphony orchestras, at prestigious venues like Benaroya and McCaw Halls, and at national conferences including ACDA and NATS. My versatility spans classical repertoire, contemporary works, and innovative community-created compositions.
I'm available as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator for festivals, workshops, and educational events, offering expertise in vocal technique, innovative rehearsal strategies, and community-building through music.

Voice Teacher
Teaching has been a cornerstone of my musical journey for over 25 years, bringing me profound joy and fulfillment. I maintain a select studio of dedicated students committed to vocal growth, from professional performers to passionate amateurs. I take a holistic approach—integrating technical mastery, emotional authenticity, mental wellbeing, and physical awareness. My work with helping students learn to belt has been featured nationally, including JW Pepper. If interested in studying, please contact me to discuss availability.
Singer
My performance journey spans diverse musical worlds, from classical to contemporary repertoire in over a dozen languages. I've appeared as a featured soloist with Symphony Tacoma, Tacoma Concert Band, and Ensign Symphony, performed as a soloist in China and participated in boundary-crossing projects like Silkroad Ensemble's Global Musicians Workshop. Memorable roles include the title character in Mary Poppins, Mary Magdalene in Lamb of God, Musetta in La Bohème and performances of my one-woman show "The Ladies of Lyric and Song" exploring female musical theatre composers. Critics have described my performances as "an amazing tour-de-force" and noted how "her voice glistened over the orchestra... in a satisfying finale." Current projects include singing lead with a new rock band (premiering in summer 2025).
